This is the premier event that kicks-off Thin Air. It brings together all the people at Thin Air 2017 who come from diverse businesses and backgrounds, yet are bound together by a common aim of leading change and driving high performance.  

This event features musical performances by award-winning record artists and songwriters Monty Powell and Anna Wilson and a series of conversations between renowned business leader Dave Pottruck and several high-profile Thin Air 2017 guests including Marc Harrison CEO of Intermountain Healthcare; Michelle MacLaren award winning director and producer; Chris Fischer Founder of Ocearch; Shanna Tellerman, CEO of Modsy; and Olympians Ashley Caldwell and Hannah Kearney. Together they'll explore how Performance Leadership is attained by the cultures we develop, the data we utilize, the customers we attract and the products we create. They’re all big on being open and honest about sharing stories of success and failure...and they're here at Thin Air to share their best lessons.

Arrive early (doors open at 6p) to mix with other Thin Air attendees. We also encourage attendees to consider having dinner after the show at the State Road Tavern located in the DeJoria Center.

Thin Air shuttle service from Deer Valley Snow Park parking area to DeJoria center is available. Allow 20 minutes drive time from Park City to the DeJoria Center. Return shuttles to Deer Valley Snow Park parking area will be provided.

Join Hoby Darling as he moderates a featured panel including Brian Sudler of the US Army Special Forces, George Severence of the Navy Seals (retired), Andy Walshe of Red Bull High Performance, World Champion Olympian Ashley Caldwell and former All-American Gymnast and CEO of YSA Aimee Preston. The Thin Air Lounge at Butcher's Chop House is our HQ and the place to hang out and mix with all the Thin Air guests and attendees. Like 2016, there will be plenty of food, wine, beer and signature cocktails on the Thin Air hosted menu. Also like Thin Air 2016, the Lounge will feature live performances from Park City's local music scene.  

For 2017 we're adding Chairlift Chats to the Thin Air Lounge, which are conversational interviews led by Bruce Kasanoff, a Forbes contributor, and several high-profile speakers from the Thin Air program.

David Wiener, founder of David Weiner Ventures, leads a conversation with Bob Wheaton, President and GM of Deer Valley Resort; Anita Grantham, Chief People Officer of Pluralsight; Brint Markle, co-founder and CEO of Mountain Hub; and Shanna Tellerman, co-founder and CEO of Modsy about the cultures they develop in their organizations to maintain a competitive edge.

Death by Design, a feature length documentary, explores this question and uncovers a global story of damaged lives, environmental destruction and devices that are designed to die. Click here to learn about this film.

The film will be followed by an audience Q&A session moderated by Sharon Anderson Morris of FiReFilms featuring prominent physicians  and environmentalists about the effects of water and air contaminants on human health.

Experience: Performance Under Pressure

Benefitting the Green Beret Foundation

This Thin Air Experience is the perfect follow-up to the Breakout session led by Hoby Darling from the day before at OP Rockwell.  

You will venture into a world that few ever experience. You will experience how our most elite special forces operators work to achieve the impossible in high stress situations--where country, life and limb are truly at risk.

An elite team from the Army Special Forces Group (Green Berets) will take you through an exercise from a mission brief, execution of the mission/exercise, and an after action review. The focus will be on what business leaders can learn from how the Green Berets execute on their mission "de oppresso liber" (to free the oppressed). How they work as teams, always get better, improvise, and create an atmosphere to do what others think to be daunting or impossible.

They will also discuss how they accomplish their mission as warrior diplomats and achieve success by winning over local groups in order to make "one gun into 100 guns."

Experience: Ride in Thin Air with Strava
Park City Bike Demos

Supported by Park City Bike Demos & Park City's X-Men Cycling Club

Several top executives from Strava are coming to Thin Air to share their ideas about community and individual performance as well as the Strava platform roadmap. We figured it was only right to share with them some of the better road riding in Park City. 

The ride is open to the public and offers a variety of options according to difficulty. High-end road bike rentals are available for out of town guests by Park City Bike Demos. Mention Thin Air Park City when you are making your reservation to get a special discount.

Park City Bike Demos will open their shop early at 8:00 am for riders to gather and have coffee and bagels provided by Park City's X-Men Cycling Club. The group will roll at 9:00 am sharp, following a predetermined route that will offer a mini tour of Park City, then conclude back at Park City Bike Demos with plenty of time to plug back in to afternoon Thin Air scheduled events. Just like last year, we’re closing down lower Main Street for a FREE open-air concert to close out the 2016-17 ski season!  

For 2017, Thin Air is partnering with both resorts - Deer Valley and Park City Mountain - to deliver a double bill concert featuring Magic! as the headliner and March Fourth as the opening band.

The Thin Air Concert on Main is free and open to the general public. 

Thin Air attendees & guests can hang out at the nearby Thin Air Lounge before, during and after the concert.  

We strongly encourage use of public transportation and carpooling for the concert event.
